Melanie Hayes Rice is a Bowling Green native and the daughter of the late Bob Hayes, owner of Plum Springs Garage, and Doris Hayes, an employee of Western Kentucky University. Melanie graduated from Warren East High School and attended WKU. She has been married for over 20 years to Robert Rice of Somerset, KY and they have two daughters, Hannah, who attends the University of Kentucky, and Emma, which attend Warren East High School.
